This weekend’s action in the St Canice’s Credit Union Kilkenny Senior Hurling League brought excitement and clarity as teams battled for crucial positions heading into the next phase of the championship.

With results from Round 5 now in, the relegation semi-final and first-round matchups are set, while both the League and Shield finals have been decided.

Round 5 Results:

  • Dicksboro 0-24, Thomastown 1-15
Dicksboro’s precision and ability to convert their scoring opportunities led them to a comfortable nine-point win over Thomastown. While Thomastown found the back of the net once, Dicksboro’s consistent point-scoring made the difference, securing them a key victory as they head into the first round against Graigue Ballycallan.
  • James Stephens 1-21, Glenmore 1-16
James Stephens got their first win against Glenmore, pulling away in the second half to win by five points. Their victory sets up a relegation semi-final matchup for Glenmore against Erin’s Own, while James Stephens face the daunting task of Shamrocks Ballyhale in the same stage.
  • Tullaroan 1-24, Bennettsbridge 1-18
Tullaroan delivered an impressive performance, overcoming Bennettsbridge by six points. This win places them in the League Final, where they will meet O’Loughlin Gaels. Bennettsbridge, meanwhile, will face Clara in the first round.
  • Mullinavat 1-17, Clara 2-11
In a close encounter, Mullinavat edged Clara by three point. Mullinavat’s victory means they will compete in the Shield Final against Thomastown, while Clara will need to regroup quickly for their first-round clash against Bennettsbridge.
  • O’Loughlin Gaels 1-23, Shamrocks Ballyhale 1-18
O’Loughlin Gaels continued their strong form, overcoming Shamrocks Ballyhale by five points. This win books their place in the League Final against Tullaroan, while Shamrocks Ballyhale will have to battle in the relegation semi-final against James Stephens.
  • Graigue Ballycallan 1-24, Erin’s Own 2-15
Graigue Ballycallan’s seven-point victory over Erin’s Own ensures their place in the first round, where they will take on Dicksboro. Erin’s Own, on the other hand, must now face Glenmore in the relegation semi-final.
