Carlow’s senior footballers will have home advantage too this coming Saturday when they take on Division 2 side Limerick in round 2 of the Tailteann Cup.
Following their nail-biting win over Wexford, it’s looking like a win for Carlow could all bar guarantee them a place in the quarter-finals of this year’s second-tier cup competition.
Manager Niall Carew told KCLR this week that they’ll be doing things their own way against the Munster senior championship semi-finalists.
Carlow lost out to Longford last night in the Seamus Heaney Minor Football Quarter Final
The final score was 4-15 to 7 points.
Rory Gallagher has stepped down as manager of the Derry senior footballers.
Ciaran Meenagh will now take charge of the county for the remainder of the Championship.
Gallagher stepped back from his position last Friday, following allegations of domestic abuse in a social media post by his estranged wife, Nicola.
In response, Gallagher said the allegations against him had been investigated and dealt with by the relevant authorities.
Hurling
St. Kieran’s College in Kilkenny is this year’s Larry Doyle Cup winner.
The Leinster First Year Hurling final was held in Inistioge yesterday afternoon, St. Kieran’s running out 3-12 to 0-15 over neighbours Good Counsel College in New Ross.
Offaly and Wexford meet in the Leinster under-20 hurling championship final this evening.

The GAA is reminding fans that games this weekend are advance ticket sales only through either Ticketmaster or selected SuperValu and Centra stores.
There’s added value at UPMC Nowlan Park on Saturday evening with Kilkenny’s Leinster senior hurling championship fourth-round clash with Dublin turned into a doubleheader.
With that game thrown in at 6 – and you can catch it live in full on KCLR from 5.30 – it will be preceded by the Leinster League Club Final between two clubs from opposite ends of the county as Galmoy takes on Slieverue at 4 pm.

The kick-off time for this year’s KCLR McCalmont Cup Final has been confirmed.
Third-division side Evergreen 46, fresh from a penalty shoot-out semi-final win over Callan United last weekend will meet Premier Division runners-up Freebooters at Derdimus Park Sunday week as the junior soccer season in Kilkenny draws to a close.
That game has now been fixed for a 2pm start.

Inter Milan are into the Champions League final.
They defeated their neighbours AC 1-nil on the night and 3-nil on aggregate.
Inter will now await the winners of the Manchester City – Real Madrid tie.That stands at 1 goal apiece entering the second leg at the Etihad Stadium tonight. Kick off is at 8.

Luton Town have qualified for the Championship play off final.
They beat Sunderland 2-nil on the night and 3-2 over both legs.
Luton will face Coventry or Middlesbrough in the Wembley decider.
They meet at the Riverside tonight and the tie is goalless.
8pm is the start time.
