The 6 knockout games will take place across the county this weekend

Elsewhere last night Dicksboro claimed the Revise.ie Under 19 Rionn A Hurling Title last night

They went up against City Rivals James Stephens and came away with a 1-17 to 1-12 win where Sean Keenan hit the net in the second half for The Boro

In the Rionn C final, Glenmore had a 2-16 to 1-16 victory over Graignamenagh to claim the title in Inistigoe last night with David Walsh and James Reid grabbing a goal each while Jason Cody scored 12 points.

The upcoming Joe Mallon Motors Senior Football Championship final and The Auld Sheebeen Athy Intermediate Football Championship final with both games set to form part of a doubleheader at Carlow’s Netwatch Cullen Park on Sunday 22 October.

Soccer

FAI CEO Jonathan Hill and Director of Football Marc Canham face a busy morning.

They have called a press conference whose core subject was set to be the reasons behind Vera Pauw’s departure as women’s national coach.

However, Hill and Canham are also likely to face plenty of questions regarding Stephen Kenny’s future.

His position has come under intense scrutiny after four defeats from the Republic of Ireland’s five Euro qualifiers to date.

RUGBY

Ireland head coach Andy Farrell will name his team later for Saturday’s World Cup Pool B match against Tonga in Nantes (pr: Nont).

Jack Conan is the only injured absentee and a decision has to be made on whether or not to start captain Johnny Sexton.

Out-half Sexton played 66 minutes against Romania last weekend.

Mack Hansen, Conor Murray, Ronan Kelleher, and Iain Henderson may be selected today.

Golf

All of Europe’s Ryder Cup players are in the field for the BMW PGA Championship – the flagship event on the DP World Tour including Masters winner Jon Rahm.

For the Irish in the field, Padraig Harrington is the first of them to tee off at Wentworth at 8.25.

Rory McIlroy begins his challenge at 8.40.

Defending champion Shane Lowry is underway from 9am.

And Tom McKibbin has a start time of 11.55.
