The fallout from Sunday’s All-Ireland final is continuing today.

It wasn’t to be for Kilkenny as the 2023 season finished the same way as 2022, with an All-Ireland final defeat to Limerick.

It means Kilkenny’s wait for an All-Ireland title still stretches back to 2015.

Speaking to KCLR, Kilkenny legend JJ Delaney said that it will be difficult for any team to stop five-in-a-row chasing Limerick next year.

Thanks to the Scotland & Kilkenny u-17’s for a great game of Shinty this evening in UPMC Nowlan Park. FT Kilkenny 6-0-10 (28), Scotland 2-3-3 (15) pic.twitter.com/WRDbo9LNlW

Kilkenny took on Scotland in the Shinty International yesterday

The Cats came away from UPMC Nowlan Park with the victory on a Kilkenny 6-0-10 (28), to Scotland 2-3-3 (15)

Elsewhere Mullinavat beat Dunnamaggin by a single point last night to win the Michael Lyng Motor League Division 2 Final

While Thomastown beat Young Ireland 1-21 to 1-20 to win the St Canice’s Credit Union Division 1 Final

Soccer

The Republic of Ireland’s women’s football team continue their World Cup adventure this afternoon.

The Girls in Green need at least a draw against Olympic champions Canada to keep their hopes of progressing out of Group B alive.

Defeat would see them eliminated at the group stage following their opening 1-nil loss to co-hosts Australia.

Forward Kyra Carusa says they’ve taken plenty of positives from that game though

That game in Perth kicks off at 1 o’clock Irish Time,

There’s action already underway in Group C this morning – Japan lead Costa Rica 2-0 heading toward the final minutes in Dunedin.

Spain face Zambia at Eden Park from half 8.

Tottenham Hotspur owner Joe Lewis has been charged in the US with alleged insider trading.

In a video announcement, New York district attorney Damian Williams accused the British billionaire of using inside information to “shower gifts on his friends and lovers.”

Lewis took control of Spurs in the 1990s.

The North London club said in a statement that the charges are “a legal matter unconnected with the club.”

SWIMMING

Daniel Wiffin will compete in the 800m freestyle final at the World Aquatics Championships in Japan this afternoon.

The Co. Down 22-year-old booked his place at next year’s Olympics yesterday as he set a new Irish record in his semi-final.

Wiffin is in the pool just after 12 today.

Danielle Hill came through her 50m backstroke heat overnight, and goes in the semi-final just after 25-to-1.
