There was lots of activity in last night’s Kilkenny Vehicle Centre Minor Championship as they got underway, there was some eye watering scorelines on the night – huge wins for James Stepehns, Dicksboro and St Martins in Roinn A, while in Roinn B – Barrow Rangers and Emeralds while there was other wins for Glenmore, KIlmacow, Galmoy/Windgap and Shamrocks Ballyhale

The US Open has stared in New York and Novak Djokovic has returned to number one in the world after his straight sets win over Alexandre Muller 6-0 6-2 6-3, it was the Serbian’s seventeenth straight first round win at Flushing Meadows
In the Womens event, local player Coco Gauff made it into round two with a two sets to one win over qualifier Laura Siegemund from Germany. Word number one Iga Swiatek sent out a serious message of intent after her straight sets in her first round match, the 22 year old from Poland beat Rebecca Peterson 6-0 6-1.

Chelsea outcast Romelu Lukaku will head to Italy this evening to complete his loan move to Roma, the Belgian striker returned on a season long loan to Inter Milan last year where he played in the Champions League Final against Manchester City but his underperformance was criticized after missing many chances having come off the bench. Its been widely reported that Chelsea Owner Todd Boehly has instructed new manager Mauricio Pochettino not to pick Lukaku as the stand off between player and club continues. The Serie A side have agreed to pay £8million for a season long loan.
