The Limerick senior hurlers have 14 nominations for this year’s PWC GAA / GPA All-Stars.

Treaty trio Aaron Gillane, Kyle Hayes, and Diarmuid Byrnes have been nominated for the Hurler of the Year award.

All Ireland finalists Kilkenny have eight players up for this year’s PWC GAA / GPA All-Star awards

At home, The Mullinavat v O’Loughlin Gaels quarter-final game that was due to take place at 1.30pm on Saturday has now been moved to 3.30pm.

So this clashes with the Glenmore and Bennettsbridge game.

It’s finals weekend in Carlow.

The big game of the weekend comes this Sunday as Tinryland and Eire Og face off to be crowned Carlow senior football champions.

That game throws in at 4 o’clock and Tinryland veteran Shane Redmond has been telling KCLR that his team will try and call on last year’s experience of losing the decider to their advantage.

You can listen to that game with thanks to Dan Morrissey & Co.

Newcastle United have knocked Manchester City out of the English League Cup.

The Magpies won 1-nil at St James’ Park last night with a goal by Alexander Isak and will now face Manchester United in the last 16 in what will be a repeat of last year’s final.

Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher started in goal for Liverpool, who beat Leicester City 3-1 at Anfield.

Liverpool’s reward for that win is a trip to Bournemouth in the next round.

Dominik Szobozslai scored a great goal for Liverpool and his manager Jurgen Klopp says the Hungarian has impressed since joining the club in the summer.

Elsewhere, Everton beat Aston Villa 2-1 and will now face Burnley. A goal by Nicolas Jackson saw Chelsea overcome Brighton by 1 goal to nil to book a meeting with Blackburn Rovers.

Republic of Ireland under 21 captain Andrew Moran scored twice for Blackburn in their 5-2 win over Cardiff City. Arsenal won 1-nil at Brentford with a goal by Reiss Nelson and the Gunners will face West Ham in the last 16.

American Ryder Cup golf captain Zach Johnson says Tiger Woods will be a useful information source for the team despite his absence from the contest against Europe in Rome.

The 15-time major winner won’t be at the course in Italy when they get underway on Friday because he’s recovering from ankle surgery.

Woods has been part of the preparations for the United States and Johnson admits he’ll be in contact with the side from home.
