GAA

Kilkenny hurlers are back in action this weekend as they welcome Dublin to UPMC Nowlan park.

The Cats are coming off the back of a win against Laois, with a very convincing first-half display, however, manager Derek Lyng was not happy with the drop-off in the second half and said they need to be more clinical in front of goal. 1.45pm throw-in time, coverage building up out of the lunchtime news on Sunday with thanks to Laharts.

You find out how to get tickets to the game below.

Speaking of tickets, TD Michael Healy-Rae said the GAA was “making a mistake” by no longer accepting cash for tickets.

On Saturday Carlow is hoping for back-to-back wins when they take on Offaly in the Allianz Hurling League Division 2A Round 4. Throwin from Glenisk O’Connor Park, Tullamore is at 2 pm with thanks to Ray Whelan.

SOCCER

Between fresher football success and becoming perpetual cup champions SETU Carlow has a further chance of glory after they qualified for the Colleges Premier Final yesterday.

They went up against Technological University Dublin in the semi final and after extra time, the tie was tied 2 all.

Tottenham are out of the Champions League after a tame nil-nil draw with AC Milan in North London saw them lose 1-nil on aggregate in the last 16. Spurs boss Antonio Conte has admitted the club could sack him before the end of the season.

There will be no glory in this season’s competition either for Lionel Messi or Kylian Mbappe after PSG lost 2-nil on the night away to Bayern Munich and 3-nil over both legs.

Manchester United will look to bounce back from their Anfield humiliation in the Europa League last 16 tonight. They welcome Real Betis to Old Trafford for an 8 pm kick-off. On field skipper, Bruno Fernandes shipped criticism after a petulant display against Liverpool, but forward Marcus Rashford has defended his team-mate.

"We didn't give up, that's nonsense!"

Elsewhere in the Europa League this evening, Arsenal are away to Sporting from 5.45.

At the same time, West Ham play A-E-K Larnaca in the Conference League.

Golf

Three-time major champion Padraig Harrington has been inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame, becoming only the third Irishman to receive the honor.

Only Joe Carr and Christy O’Connor senior from this island have received the honour before. Harrington won two Open Championships and a PGA Championship in the space of 13 months over 2007 and 2008.

Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry and Seamus Power are in the field for the Players Championship, which gets underway today at Sawgrass in Florida.

HORSE RACING

Racing at Thurles has been abandoned due to snow.
