Camogie
Waterford have announced Jerry Wallace will take charge of the senior camogie side in 2024.
Wallace enjoyed spells at Antrim and Cork, spending five years at the latter before stepping down last week.
He takes over from Sean Power, who this year guided the Deise to their first All-Ireland final since 1945.
Soccer
Newcastle crashed out of Europe last night.
Eddie Howe’s side threw away the lead in a 2-1 defeat at home to AC Milan. Defeat leaves Newcastle bottom of Group F, with Milan taking the Europa League spot.
Borussia Dortmund won the group after their 1-1 draw with Paris Saint-Germain.
Liam Scales put in a man-of-the-match performance for Celtic, who finished their Group E campaign with a 2-1 win at home to Feyenoord.
Atletico Madrid finished top of that group via a 2-nil defeat of Lazio. Defending champions Manchester City rounded off a perfect Group G campaign, winning 3-2 at Red Star Belgrade.
Barcelona were confirmed as Group H winners, despite a 3-2 defeat in Antwerp.
Brighton and West Ham are both hoping to finish top of their respective Europa League groups tonight.
Victory at home to Marseille will do the trick for Brighton in Group B.
In Group A, West Ham need only to avoid defeat at home to Freiburg.
Liverpool are assured of top billing in Group E, regardless of what happens away to Union S-G.
New Oak booked themselves a third straight KCLR Carlow Shield final after a comprehensive 4-nil victory over St. Patrick’s.
Making it their 10th final in just three years. Killeshin and Parvilles match that was scheduled for last night had to be postponed and will go ahead at future date.
The FAI have remained tight-lipped on whether former assistant coach Anthony Barry is a lead candidate for the Ireland men’s job.
Barry served under previous manager Stephen Kenny in 2021, and is currently working at Bayern Munich and the Portuguese national side.
Chief executive Jonathan Hill said the process is moving forward quite well, but refused to reveal the identities of the top candidates for the job.
