Limericks All Ireland’s victory over Kilkenny still dominates the discussion around the GAA this week.

Liam McHale has parted ways with the Mayo Senior Football management team after one year with the set-up.

McHale is a brother-in-law of Mayo manager Kevin McStay and the two won an All-Ireland club title with St Brigid’s in 2013 before a Connacht title with Roscommon in 2017.

This year Mayo won Division One of the Allianz National Football League and reached the All-Ireland quarter-final.

Soccer

Republic of Ireland captain Katie McCabe says they want to end their first ever Women’s World Cup campaign on a high in next week’s final group game against Nigeria.

She said she was “heartbroken” after their 2-1 defeat to Canada in Perth, which ended hopes of progress to the last-16.

McCabe’s determined to prove their maiden tournament won’t be a one-off.

The second game of the day gets underway at the Women’s World Cup shortly.

Portugal and Vietnam meet in Group E from half-eight – with the loser set to be knockout out of the tournament.

Earlier in the same group, the United States and the Netherlands played out a 1-all draw.

At 11am, co-hosts Australia take on Nigeria in Group B.

Australia will seal a place in the knockout stage with victory.

Transfers

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has said goodbye to the club ahead of an impending move to Al-Ettifaq.

He’s posted on Instagram being made skipper at Anfield was one of the “greatest honours of my life” and he’ll “always be a Red”.

Henderson had been urged not to join the Saudi Arabian team by Liverpool’s LGBTQ-plus supporters’ group.

Athletics

Gowran Athletic clubs shot-putter Andrew Cooper came 12th at the European Youth Olympic Fetsival in Slovenia this week.

Andrews threw a personal best 17.20m, which places him at 35 in the world, and the highest ranking Irish person

Earlier in the week Carlows Leila Colfer reprsented Ireland in the 100m track event, finishing fifth.
