Carlow Footballer of the year Sean Gannon is optimistic about the greater challenges that lie ahead in Division 3 of the National League.
Sean was named Footballer of the Year at the Carlow GAA Awards last Saturday and speaking to KCLR as they continue preparations for Sunday’s National League opener at home to Sligo, Sean says they can build the progression they made last year.
He told KCLR Sport “I suppose I am very optimistic, the start of every year you are, but probably more so now than ever”.
“We are going into Division 3 and it’s going to be a bigger challenge for us, that’s where we want to be.
Speaking about moving into another division, Sean said “There has always been great crowds (at the games), like the Monaghan and Tyrone games especially, there was eight or nine thousand there and probably six or seven thousand I should say, it was amazing like so hopefully we get a bit of support early on in the League because I do think we can notch up a couple of wins”.
“If you can get a couple of wins, everyone beats everyone in that Division so anything could happen”
