Shane Curran, the former Roscommon star and All-Ireland winning goalkeeper with St. Brigid’s, has been nominated to take over as the new Carlow senior football manager.
His appointment is pending ratification at the upcoming County Board meeting.
Carlow GAA Chairman Jim Bolger expressed his enthusiasm about the potential appointment, highlighting Curran’s impressive track record and his ability to make a significant impact wherever he goes.
“We talked to quite a few people over the time, and we’re delighted to have Shane now,” Bolger told KCLR. “At the County Board meeting, hopefully, they put him through. He’s got a lot of experience. He played for many years with Roscommon, and with his club St. Brigid’s, where he ended up winning more in his 40s than he did in his 30s or his 20s, ironically. Everywhere he’s gone, he’s made a significant impact; he’s full of energy, he’s very enthusiastic. It’s in his DNA. And I suppose he’ll build on what Niall Carew and the lads accomplished.”
Curran’s nomination comes as Carlow GAA looks to build on recent progress, and Bolger is confident that the former goalkeeper’s leadership will continue to push the team forward.
Bolger’s comments were made during KCLR’s live coverage of Palatine’s impressive 10-point victory over Rathvilly in the Michael Lyng Motors Senior Championship.
The excitement in Carlow football continues tonight with two more matches at Netwatch Cullen Park. Clonmore will face Éire Óg at 7:15 PM, followed by Old Leighlin’s clash with Tinryland at 8:35 PM. Both matches will be broadcast live on KCLR, with thanks to Dan Morrissey and Co.
As Carlow GAA looks to the future, Shane Curran’s nomination is a promising step towards further development and success on the football field.
