Shane Prendergast to captain Kilkenny Hurlers in 2016

Kilkenny senior hurler Shane Prendergast

Shane Prendergast has been confirmed as Kilkenny captain for 2016.

The Clara man takes over from Joey Holden who brought the Liam McCarthy cup back Noreside in 2015.

Shane has a championship medal with Clara and has also won All-Ireland, Leinster and championship medals in the intermediate grade and has one Senior medal.

His father, Paddy Prendergast, is a three-time All-Ireland medallist with Kilkenny.

Speaking to KCLR as Kilkenny GAA launched the new season earlier Shane said its a huge honour.
