Slieverue Junior Hurling manager Liam Knox says it came as no surprise to anyone within the club that they knocked out two of the Championship favourites Conahy Shamrocks and Emeralds on their way to reaching the County Semi-Final.

Speaking to KCLR ahead of Sunday’s County Junior Semi-Final against John Lockes Callan, Liam says the attitude from the squad all year has been fantastic.

“Confidence is high like. We have beaten the two teams that have been relegated the last two years from Intermediate so yeah confidence is high.

When asked if the wins came as a shock to them he had this to say:

No, not within the club, no not within the club at all no. We are probably a little unlucky the way things worked out last year, we had a very good year last year, I think this year we have just really pushed on and just kept the heads down and kept at it,” he said.
