Kilkenny Stars will battle to be Top of the Class as the cream of a new crop of Kilkenny hurling talent will be on view this Saturday when St Kieran’s College meet Kilkenny CBS in the final of the Top Oil Leinster Schools Senior A Hurling final at Nowlan Park at 2pm
The all-Kilkenny affair will see holders St Kieran’s take on their rivals from the CBS in the battle for the Corn Uí Duill trophy.
The match will also mark the start of a new partnership between Leinster GAA and fuel giants Top Oil who have agreed to sponsor Leinster Post Primary Schools Gaelic Games from 2016 until 2018.
Saturday’s final will see holders St Kieran’s chase a 54th Leinster Senior A title.
They boast a number of players who were on last year’s triumphant side.
Their Captain is Tommy Walsh from Tullaroan – a cousin of the Kilkenny star of the same name, as well as featuring Sean Carey from Young Ireland’s , son of Kilkenny legend DJ.
Kilkenny CBS meanwhile have won the title eight times since 1936 and their two most recent victories in 2013 and 2014 saw them defeat St Kieran’s in the Leinster final.
Joint Captain and ace marksman Conor Doheny was on that winning team.
Centre back Mark Drennan is the other Joint Captain.
