Carlow Senior Football manager Turlough O Brien says the Super 8s format which comes into effect for next years All-Ireland Football Championship will cause massive problems with the fixture list.
Speaking to KCLR on “The way it is”, Turlough says the gap between the top teams and the chasing pack will increase with the the new changes….
“I don’t think it’s going to improve football throughout the country and I think it’s going to cause more problems with fixtures because June, July and August now are going to be tied up with Inter-County games completely”
“There will be no room for club games as far as I can see. The All-Ireland Finals are coming forward, you have these extra games in the round robin, I just don’t think it’s done anything for football really”
“The problems in football really are back down the line. The gap at the top is so far removed from the chasing pack that they are going to go further ahead I think”
