The Irish have always been known for their wit and charm. With the dawn of social media more and more of us had the chance to witness some of our best show case their skills on the small screen. We take a look at some of the best sketches out there but with a sporting twist.
Conor Moore
Conor Moore released this hilarious rugby sketch ahead of the six nations. However it’s not only the impressions you see in this sketch that he can do, but no Moore also has a whole arsenal of personalities in his locker. Recently Moore has gotten his own show with the Golf Channel and continues going from strength to strength.
Al Foran
Al burst onto the scene around the same time as Conor McGregor. Partly due to his spot-on impersonation of the Notorious one, but mostly to do with his spot-on impressions of celebs that he would do to their face. Al has shared the screen with the likes of Floyd Mayweather, Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, just to name a few. His Premier League sketches are always top-notch and can be found after every matchday weekend on his pages.

Apres Match :
You could not mention the above two impressionists without giving homage to Apres Match. Consistently the highlights of World Cups and Euros when Ireland didn’t qualify and England didn’t lose.
Fupin’ Eejits :
One of the most underrated sketch groups in Ireland is without a doubt The Fupin Eejits. Consistently satirizing everything from Trainspotting to the Ballyragget hurling team, here they had a look at lockdown restrictions with none other than the ‘Tullow Tank’ Sean O’Brien.
Stevie Cahill
This one is a bit of a cheat considering Stevie Cahill could be encompassed as part of the Fupin’ Eejits. Still though, the man goes out on his own often with great success. This one involves a certain handsome American with luscious long blonde hair having a look at GAA.
Rory’s Stories
Capturing the heart of a nation, Rory O’Connor has turned his sketches into a mammoth. Books and live tours all followed after appearing on Republic of Telly early in his career with this hilarious sketch.
The Wind-up Merchants
The Wind-Up Merchants have consistently been churning out top quality sketches for years. Everything from pub culture to relationships is fair game. Here they joined up with Boyle Sports for one of many sport-related sketches.
The 2 Johnnies
Probably the most successful Irish comedy duo since D’Unbelievables. Chart success with their songs, touring their stage show around the world, an immensely popular podcast and having their RTE show, the lads of done it all. The Tip boys were always tipped for success when they consistently produce top quality content looking at the intricacies of GAA club life
Chaps Eye
Drinking cans is a sport right?……right?
Dicemen Productions :
All right get over it! This sketch includes me. It did manage to do well though ahead of the 2019 All Ireland Final between Tipperary and Kilkenny.
