The flat racing returns to Gowran Park today. Thursday, April 7th. With the first race going to post at 3:55.
Before the eight race card with caught up with Gowran Park race manager Eddie Scally to get the rundown. Speaking with Scoreline he said
“It’s a very exciting card to look forward to some really competitive racing. The standout race of the day is going to be the Golf at Gowran Park race at 6:30 PM. It’s a long-distance race ran over one mile 5 1/2 furlongs and we have some really really good horses in the race. “
But the most notable one, of course, is Wordsworth, trained by Aidan O’Brien and ridden by champion jockey Ryan Moore, who’s over from England. Wordsworth would have been the favourite for last year’s St. Ledger and placed in the derby aswell, so a really high-class horse.
“Aside from that race itself, there are a lot of really good competitive races. The first race gets underway at 3:55 PM, which is a really good maiden. So anyone coming to the races today in Gorham Park will be treated to a really excellent fair. “
