Provincial Towns Cup Final 2023 preview: Kilkenny Rugby Club

As broadcast on Thursday evening, live at The Front Room in Kilkenny, we’re previewing the 2023 Bank of Ireland Provincial Towns Cup Final.

Up first and being in Kilkenny, it’s Kilkenny Rugby Club. The defending champions are on the hunt for back-to-back Provincial Towns Cup titles for the first time since the turn of the century. While their league campaign and form may have disappointed, Kilkenny have been a different beast in the cup having already seen off Gorey in dramatic style before brushing past Cill Dara at the semi-final stages.

On Sunday, they’ll face Tullow in Athy in the first competitive meeting of the sides in a few years and as part of the build up to the weekend we’re chatting with

  • Club PRO James Blanchfield
  • Team manager and former player Ray Pembroke
  • 2022 Provincial Towns Cup-winning coach Steve Ashmore
  • Club president Dave Matthews
  • Team manager Eamon Dooley

and along with Brendan Hennessy, they’re providing their own insights, thoughts on and hopes for this Sunday’s final.
