Early bird tickets for the 2023 Goffys Thyestes Chase have gone on sale.
Thyestes Day marks one of the biggest, if not the biggest, days of racing on the Gowran Park calendar. Long dubbed ‘the race that stops a county’ with the added tagline of ‘where a horse becomes a legend’, a full festival atmosphere awaits on the last Thursday in January.
This year’s renewal saw the return of crowds post-Covid and another 12 months on, Gowran Park should be packed to the rafters on Thursday 26 January.
To get a jump on proceedings, early bird tickets have gone on sale with no increase in price from this year’s running with adult tickets priced at €20 while students/OAPs are €15.
The past ten editions of the feature Goff Thyestes Chase have been kinder to Willie Mullins than most, taking victory with On His Own (2014), Djakadam (2015), Invitation Only (2019) and Total Recall (2020) with local jockey Danny Mullins on board.
Gordon Elliot can count two winners in the same time with Monbeg Notorious (2018) and Coko Beach (2021) both steered home by Jack Kennedy, while the Martin Brassil-trained Longhouse Poet under Darragh O’Keeffe brought home the goldin 2022.
