This weekend marks the quarter-finals of the St Canice’s Credit Union Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship, and the city clash between Dicksboro and reigning county and provincial champions O’Loughlin Gaels promises to be a highlight.
The highly anticipated encounter occurs this Sunday at 4:30 p.m. in UPMC Nowlan Park, with both teams eager to secure a place in the semi-finals.
KCLR will have live coverage of this game and the other three quarter-finals, ensuring that fans won’t miss a minute of the action.
Former All-Ireland winning manager with Shamrocks Ballyhale, Pat Hoban, was a recent guest on the KCLR Hurling Podcast, where he shared his thoughts on Dicksboro’s impressive form this season. Hoban highlighted the key changes that have helped Dicksboro hit their stride at the perfect time:
“They’re starting to find that form at the right time. They’ve changed their team around—Timmy Clifford is back in the forwards after playing as a half-back, and Ollie Welsh returned to wing-back and played very well. Timmy brings a different kind of go-forward, straight-line aggression, and they have Cillian Hackett back inside. The player who’s really impressed me this year is Matthew Kelleher—he’s been powerful, physical, and just knows how to score. They’re starting to find a really good shape, and they have phenomenal players all over the field.”
With such talent and momentum behind them, Dicksboro will be eager to challenge O’Loughlin Gaels in what promises to be a thrilling quarter-final. However, as defending champions, O’Loughlin Gaels will be determined to prove why they’re still the team to beat.
Tune in to KCLR this weekend for live coverage of all the quarter-final games and analysis on what’s shaping up to be a crucial weekend in Kilkenny hurling.
