“Thomastown, 2024 Senior County Champions – No One Can Take That Away”: Historic Victory Seals Kilkenny Title

Thomastown made history on Sunday, capturing the Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship title with a commanding 11-point win over O’Loughlin Gaels in challenging conditions at UPMC Nowlan Park.

The final score of 0-18 to 0-7 showcased a dominant display that secured the club’s second senior title – their first in 78 years, dating back to 1946.

Thomastown defender Zac Bay Hammond praised the team’s unity and resilience as the key to their success, emphasizing the pride and gratitude felt by players and supporters alike.

“The lads, they’re unbelievable,” said Hammond. “Our team spirit is absolutely amazing. I couldn’t ask for anything better. To say we’re County champions… I can’t actually put it into words. It’s a long, long time, but now, you can look back however long you want – Thomastown, 2024 senior County champions – and no one can take that away from us ever.”

The victory marks a historic milestone for Thomastown, etching Thomastown’s name into Kilkenny’s hurling legacy once more.
