As championship action goes, it’s a delight to see Carlow more involved in the summer action this year with two huge games on the horizon this weekend.
On Saturday, thanks to their Joe McDonagh Cup final appearance and victory, Carlow will welcome Dublin to Netwatch Cullen Park for what’s sure to be their toughest test of the year to date. The prize on offer is a big one too, a place in the All-Ireland senior hurling championship quarter-finals against beaten Munster hurling championship finalists Clare later this month.
Throw-in is set for 5pm and you’ll be able to catch the game live in full on KCLR with our coverage building up across the afternoon on Scoreline this Saturday with a bumper crowd expected at Carlow GAA HQ.
On Sunday, it’s an early start for Niall Carew’s senior footballers as all roads point to Belfast for the quarter-finals of this year’s Tailteann Cup. Carlow’s 0-15 to 0-10 win over New York in the preliminary quarter-finals meant progression but an away fixture was always on the cards with the group toppers getting home advantage. We’ll be live from Corrigan Park at 1pm where Carlow take on Division 3 contenders Antrim in what should be a tough encounter in a venue that’s hosted two trips for Kilkenny hurling fans this year.
Both games are tickets in advance and you can pick them up online from Ticketmaster, or in local SuperValu outlets in Tullow, Bagenalstown and Sandhills Carlow or Centra in Ballon, Borris and Potato Market.
Tickets for Carlow v Dublin on Saturday are priced at €25 for adults, €20 for students/OAPs (with valid ID) while juveniles are €5. There is no free entry of children at Saturday’s game. Tailteann Cup tickets are priced €20/15/5
