Tributes are being paid to the the late Brendan Hayden Senior who passed away this week.

Carlow Gaa have described him as one of the greatest ever players to don the Carlow jersey.

Brendan played adult football for 25 seasons with 24 of them in the senior grade with his club Tinryland.

He was part of the “Cosets” who were a team made up of men from the sugar factory.

He also of course played for his county.

Brendan also hurled and won five county Senior titles, three with Carlow town, one with St Fintan’s and one with Palatine.

On the administration front, Brendan was Chairman of Tinryland on three separate occasions, he also served on Carlow County Board and Leinster Council for 17 years and refereed at all levels bar a senior All-Ireland.

Brendan is survived by his wife Breeda, children Joe, Ann, Brendan, Olivia, Colm and Marion, brother Pat.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Today we mourn the loss of Brendan Hayden Snr., one of the greatest ever players to don the Carlow jersey.

We extend our deepest sympathy to the Hayden family, especially our valued colleague & dear friend Brendan Jnr.
