Bring the suncream – that should be the advice for this Saturday’s Tullaroan Marathon event.

The annual event returns this year with a juveniles race, 10k, marathon and ultra-marathon. The expansion, according to Tullaroan Athletic Club chairperson Vincent Guthrie is to try and get more runners and families involved.

According to Vincent, the community spirit within the parish is shining through.

“It is great to get them involved (the juveniles), more of a family event. That’s what we want in Tullaroan, that this event is all about family and try and encourage more families.”

“We have families coming with their camper vans and some coming camping as well for the weekend. We actually set up a camp where part of the soccer field will be camping, just to get everyone out and get everyone involved. Needless to say, the spirit in Tullaroan is shining through.”

“The community spirit here is brilliant, again they are all coming to help, just the spirit is brilliant here.”

Online access closes at 6pm today. Registration is available for the 5k (€10), 10k (€20, over 16 only), Half Marathon (€25, over 18 only), Marathon (€40, over 18 only) and Ultra Marathon (€50, over 18 only)
