Old Leighlin made it two wins in a row in the Michael Lyng Motors Carlow Senior Football Championship with a dominant 4-17 to 1-2 victory over Mount Leinster Rangers.

Tadgh Roche scored two first-half goals, while Daragh Fitzgerald and Mikey Bambrick also found the net, leading Old Leighlin to a comprehensive win.

Mount Leinster Rangers, missing several key players, struggled to compete and managed only a single goal in response. Old Leighlin’s pace and composure were evident throughout the match, allowing them to control the game from start to finish.

Following the match, Old Leighlin manager Brian Lonergan expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance:

“We’re very happy with how the lads are progressing. They’re training really well, numbers are excellent in the field, and the intensity and intent in training have been very good. So, two for two, no real complaints at all.”

Lonergan highlighted the team’s focus on pace and composure as key factors in their success, noting that the players have applied themselves well throughout the year, and their efforts are beginning to pay off.

With this win, Old Leighlin solidifies their strong position in the championship as they look to maintain their momentum. Mount Leinster Rangers will need to regroup and address the gaps in their lineup ahead of their upcoming matches.
