Carlow Basketball Club’s Vinnie Homan will be honoured later this evening (Tuesday) for his contribution to basketball.
The Federation of Irish Sport’s “Volunteers In Sport” awards are taking place virtually from tonight with Kilkenny City Harriers May Hutt also set to be recognised at a national level.
Homan says the award is a tribute to those who have been around him for the past 26 years.
“It’s fantastic, it’s great for one’s self, I mean I’ve talked about Carlow Basketball being around for five or six years but I’ve been coaching now for 26 years so it’s been a long road,” said Vinnie.
“Many kids and people I’ve coached and volunteered with over the years so really it’s a testament to all of those people over that period of time you know”.
The awards take place virtually on December 7th, 8th and 9th and will see volunteers from all 32 counties honoured for their amazing dedication to volunteering across a variety of different sports.
