REPORT: Kilkenny win All-Ireland for 36th time, defeating Galway 1-22 to 1-18

Liam McCarthy Cup

GAA officials are condfident that two All-Ireland Championships in both codes could be staged next year.

With the prospect of there being no inter-county action until October at the earliest – the association is exploring several options with regard to playing championship hurling and football when it’s safe to do so.

The GAA’s Director of Communications Alan Milton doesn’t think that the idea of two senior championships in one year is far-fetched

“Its not a hair brained scheme atall it only comes into focus if we cant hold a championship in 2020, I think there would be a groundswell of appetite within the organisation to have the CCC discuss weather it would be possible to hold one in the early part of 2021 and perhaps push the regular championship to the latter part of the year.”
