You wouldn’t think it, but at nineteen years old, Shane O’Neill chalked up a Man Of The Match performance in the Carlow Senior Football Championship final on Sunday against a determined Rathvilly side. The win was Palatine’s second successive title, defending the crown they won against Old Leighlin in 2015.
O’Neill finished the game with six points, five from frees and one from play.
“I can’t believe just what we’ve done. We came out and we wanted to play football and that’s what we did, you know? It’s good when the young lads are getting the chance. We just wanted to come out and play football, we weren’t into tactics, that’s for the team. We just wanted to play for ourselves.”
