KCLR are delighted to be partnered with David Buggy Motors for the 2017 Kilkenny Sport Star Awards.

Each month we’ll be announcing a short list of three sport stars or teams for public vote. Voting will remain open until 6pm Monday 7 August. Make sure to like KCLR Fanzone on Facebook too to keep up with award nominees and winners.

Crowned 2017’s Division 2 Feile champions, Kilkenny City Ladies Gaelic Football Club are putting the sport of gaelic football in front of more youngsters across the county. Players come from the likes of James Stephens, Dicksboro and O’Loughlin Gaels in the city while also bringing together more from Bennettsbridge, Kilmanagh, Danesfort and Tullaroan with teams starting from U10 upwards.

Kilkenny and Kilkenny City Harriers have a new national champion. The club and its athletes continue to shine a light for Athletics on the local, national and international stage and Cliodhna Manning is another shining example, sealing the 400m title at the National Senior Championships in Santry in July.

It’s a double nomination for football in Kilkenny this month as the Kilkenny men’s junior footballers regained the British Junior Championship crown they claimed two seasons ago. Unlucky in defeat at the All-Ireland semi-final stages at Nowlan Park in July, all those involved in the football setup continue to do their part in helping to grow the sport in Kilkenny.
