Former Kilkenny hurling star Aidan Fogarty says the Walsh Cup may not have a future.

Taggy says while the competition is an important opportunity for players to make their mark early in the season the structure of the other competitions now means it could be discarded down the line because of a pile up in fixtures…

“The way the structure is now, and the way the league and the championship is, the Walsh Cup wouldn’t be one of the highest graded competitions”

“I can see it in couple of years time being got rid of (Walsh Cup), all of the games are too much on top of each other now, you have the league literally week on week off, and then you have the championship week after week, so I can see it maybe down the line being discarded”
