They don’t come much better than this.

Having only recently signed for Grimsby Town in the Vanarama National League, Kilkenny native Gavan Holohan hasn’t wasted any time in finding his scoring shoes.

It’s Holohan’s first league goal since August last year in a 2-1 win for then club Hartlepool over Carlisle. With just three games under his belt for his new home in the National League, he seems to have settled in rather well as a Mariner.

4-1 win away from home 🤩
First goal as a mariner ✅ 🚀🙌
Incredible away support 🗣😮‍💨👏👏

Fifth-placed Chesterfield opened the scoring through Laurence Maguire with just six minutes on the clock before John McAtee equalised for the visitors on 27 minutes. Three minutes later and Holohan is proving exactly why Grimsby were right to nab him from Hartlepool, beating Scott Loach at full stretch with an absolute belter

Skip to the 4:30 mark below if you want to see the setup for what’s surely going to be Grimsby’s goal of the season.
