The Full-Back was reflecting on O Loughlin Gales victory in the AIB Leinster club championship semi-final
O Loughlin Gaels are through to the Leinster senior club championship final for the first time since 2016 after their victory over Kilcormac-Killoughey in last weekend’s semi-final in Tullamore.
The Kilkenny champions were made work for the win by the Offaly champions but they kept composure near the end to grind out the victory to set up a final at GAA HQ against Dublin champions Na Fianna on Saturday evening next.
Speaking to Brendan Hennessy after the game, the detail man of the match Huw Lawlor said: “They were always going to come at us in the second half and we had a good first half in fairness”
“We knew they were going to come with something, we had to dig in and fight against it”
“We work alot of how we play as a team, when we go forward it starts in the backs and when it’s defending it starts in the forwards, we are just trying to play as well together as a team as we can”
“They’re a serious outfit, your not going to have a handy game at this level when you get to this stage, they have some very good hurlers there, they were always going to come but in fairness the lads got a couple of scores there when we were really up against the wall, were just delighted to get out with the win to be honest”
“It’s a quick turnaround but its the time of the year we want to be hurling, we’re delighted that its quick and hopefully we can see how the boys are in the next few days and drive it on again”
“Probably a busier November than we’re used to, we’re delighted to be here and we’re going to go as far as we can”
