Kilkenny defeated Tipperary 4-20 to 25 points in the Semple Stadium at the weekend.

The challenge game, all in aid of the Dillion Quirke foundation, saw vastly different sides lined out for the county after Tipperary defeated Kilkenny last week in the league. Tullaroan’s Gearóid Dunne claimed man of the match after a three-goal haul.

Speaking scoreline Derek Lyng was happy to give game time to some players on the cusp of the panel

“We got a good bit of game time into some of the lads who have not been involved until now, so it was really positive. Some lads showed really well, so I am happy overall, we made a lot of changes so everyone got a bit of game time, so the effort was good.”

“Last week (league match versus Tipperary) was not good, we are disappointed with that. We have to up the performances now, we have three games coming, Laois, Dublin & Waterford. We are not looking any further than next Sunday though, we really have to prepare for that game in Portlaoise.”

“Whatever happens after that, we will take it on.”

You can catch that Allianz Hurling League Division 1B Round 3 clash between Laois and Kilkenny on our Kilkenny frequencies. Throw-in is at 2 pm in O’Moore Park, Portlaoise with coverage starting from 1.30 pm. Brought to you with thanks to Laharts.
