Clara manager Jim Lyng has emphasized the need for his team to improve their accuracy in front of goal as they prepare for their St Canice’s Credit Union Kilkenny Senior Championship first-round match against Bennetsbridge this Saturday. The game, set to take place in Thomastown at 1:30 PM, will be broadcast live on KCLR.
Reflecting on last weekend’s loss to Dicksboro, Lyng highlighted the team’s struggle with converting scoring opportunities, citing their wastefulness as a key area for improvement.
“I’m told we had 19 wides. What I hear, Mulinavat had that problem the last few weeks, and they corrected it, and we obviously didn’t,” Lyng said. “I suppose they were pressure wides, and it is something we just have to really work on for the knockout championship.”
Clara’s inability to convert their chances in the recent match ultimately cost them, and Lyng knows that tightening up in this area is crucial if they are to advance in the championship. With knockout stages looming, the pressure is on the team to deliver under high stakes.
Bennetsbridge, their upcoming opponents, pose a tough challenge, but Clara will be aiming to correct their scoring issues and move forward with confidence.
