Three All-Ireland Club trophies have made their way back to Kilkenny.
Ballyhale Shamrocks made it three wins from three for the local clubs as they won the Senior All-Ireland Club final for the second time in a row and the 8th time overall yesterday.
The club was dealt a blow last year when they lost teammate Eugene Aylward.
And speaking to KCLR Sport, Manager Henry Shefflin says they wanted to honour his memory…
He said “I think to put it back to back is something we’ve never done before, that was something that we didn’t speak about until probably that close to the match, and we did want to do it”.
“I think it’s a great sign of the team and I think as joyous as an occasion as it is today, it’s a very sad day as well there’s no doubt about it, to do back to back you need to have serious desire and want, and I think Eugene’s passing last year has given them that want and desire, because they wanted to so do something special and have that jersey”.
