Saturday saw two encounters in the JJ Kavanagh and Sons Senior Hurling Championship, with Bagenalstown Gaels emerging victorious over Naomh Eoin with a scoreline of 0-17 to 0-11.
Meanwhile, Ballinkillen and Mount Leinster Rangers played out a closely contested draw, finishing 1-17 to 0-20 after a hard-fought battle on the field.

Speaking after the game, Ballinkillen Manager Stephen Dormer expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance, particularly in the second half: “We had to up our game massively, and I think we did. The performance in the second half, when we were out on our feet at times, the boys dug in and got scores and won frees, it’s massive. The performance was top-class. Probably not the result we wanted, but we got there, we got a point and we’ll take it.”

Here’s how the teams stand in the JJ Kavanagh and Sons Senior Hurling championship rankings after the latest matches:

  1. Bagenalstown Gaels: Played 1, Won 1, Drawn 0, Lost 0, Points Difference +6, Points 2
  2. Mt Leinster Rangers: Played 2, Won 0, Drawn 2, Lost 0, Points Difference 0, Points 2
  3. Naomh Eoin: Played 2, Won 1, Drawn 0, Lost 1, Points Difference -1, Points 2
