The weekend is almost here which means this year’s Glen Dimplex All-Ireland camogie championship finals are almost upon us.
This Sunday sees a triple-header of action in Croke Park with Antrim and Armagh contesting the premier junior final while Cork and Galway meet in the intermediate decider.
The big one for us at Scoreline HQ is the meeting of Cork and Kilkenny in the All-Ireland senior camogie championship final, the first meeting of the stages in the final since 2018.
That year ended a three-in-a-row final series between Kilkenny and Cork, beginning with then manager Ann Downey overseeing a Cats win in 2016 to land Kilkenny’s first O’Duffy Cup in over 20 years, before Cork hit two-in-a-row in 2017 and 2018.
Brian Dowling took over the reins in 2020 and brought Kilkenny to another All-Ireland final, taking a win over Galway in a near-empty Croke Park due to pandemic conditions. Now, having been beaten by Cork in the semi-final stages last year, with some players having “bottled up that pain”, the sides meet once more with silverware at stake.
To break it all down, the Scoreline sports team and our Camán Caint crew are heading to Dicksboro GAA club, home to a number of players on this year’s panel (also now this year’s senior league champions), including 2022 senior captain Aoife Prendergast.
Join Martin Quilty, Áine Fahey, Paula Dowling and a wealth of guests and experts from 7pm to 9pm as we break down the Cats road to Croke Park, the key matchups on the day and get the feeling from fans ahead of Sunday’s big game.
