Westmeath Senior Hurling Manager Joe Quaid says it’s very unfair that Carlow are been relegated back to the Joe McDonagh Cup after winning the competition last year.
Speaking to KCLR ahead of Sunday’s Joe McDonagh Final against Laois, Joe says the fact that Waterford had a far inferior scoring difference in the Munster Championships in contrast to Carlow proves the injustice of the format of the competition.
He said “Everybody saw that on the television on the Sunday Game that they were saying that Waterford had a far worse scoring average than Carlow had this year, but there was no repercussions for Waterford losing every game this year”.
“There was massive repercussions for Carlow losing every game this year, I can’t see that a team that wins the McDonagh can’t go into even the Munster Championship, we are been a bit disingenuous to the likes of Carlow, the Westmeaths, Laois”.
