Dimitri Van den Bergh has progressed to the quarter-finals of the PDC World Darts Championship following a comfortable 4-0 win against Kim Huybrechts in the first game of Friday afternoon’s action.
The 16th seed’s superior scoring and finishing came to the fore on the Alexandra Palace stage as he easily came out on top in the all-Belgian affair.
‘The Dream-Maker’ came straight out of the traps as he quickly claimed the first set with a 3-0 win.
Huybrechts broke in the first leg of the second set with D16 to go 1-0 up before he held his throw to move within a leg of levelling up the tie.
However, he could not see out the set as Van den Bergh held and then broke back to make it 2-2 before both players missed set darts.
The 2020 World Matchplay champion eventually hit D8 to take complete control and go 2-0 ahead.
He didn’t look back from there as he went from strength-to-strength to take the third set with Huybrechts’ efforts to respond proving futile.
A break of throw early in the second set helped him seal his place in the quarter-final where Jonny Clayton awaits.
