Kilkenny manager Brian Cody is starting to see injuries mounting up despite getting back to winning ways against Laois on Sunday.
Kilkenny beat Laois 2-28 to 0-17 at UPMC Nowlan Park, despite hitting as many wides as Laois did score (17) The two goals came from Conaghy Shamrocks man Tom Phelan.
Dublin is up next on Saturday at 5 pm in Parnell Park, with Waterford up on March 20th in UPMC Nowlan Park.
Speaking to Scoreline manager Brian Cody said the trip to Parnell Park this coming Saturday evening, leaves a tight turnaround window in terms of player recovery as he looks to shape his team for the championship run.
“It is a big big challenge for us but a great game as part of our preparation for the whole thing and as part of our desire to keep going and staying alive in the league.”
“You get no time at all with the game next Saturday evening. Obviously, a player pulled up with injuries (against Laois), so the chances of those places being available are almost nil. We want to make it as competitive as possible and have a competitive panel, and we will see where we go after this (Dublin).”
Reported hamstring injuries for Evan Cody, Conor Browne, Conor Heary, and Conor Delaney, and a quad injury to Richie Leahy may rule them out. With Cillian Buckley ok after suffering a dead leg against Laois. Cody may be bolstered though with the return of some Shamrocks players for the first time this season after the ending of the club championship.
