Thomastown United have exited the Leinster Senior Cup competition after a defeat to Dundalk in Oriel Park last night.
6-0 was the final score with Dundalk fielding six of their first team.
Thomastown manager Stevie Walsh says Dundalk were a different level all together….
“The level is probably three or four levels up, they’re fantastic the way they’re able to move the ball and the speed of them, control on the ball, absolutely brilliant like.
“We went in at half time and we just said, its nil nil lads, just try and keep the score down and control on the ball, give it everything we have, gave it everything in the first half as well but we just couldn’t live with them”.
Dundalk manager Stephen Kenny complimented Thomastown on their progress in the competition…
“To be fair to Thomastown, they’ve done terrific getting this far in the competition, and did themselves proud”
“You know I think, for us tonight it was a mixture of some senior players that needed match practice so you know, some were coming back from injury, and some young players who were eager to make their mark in the game, and there was a combination of the two.
We got some early goals, but in the second half Thomastown played quite well and you know it is what it is.
