Presentation Secondary School Kilkenny are this year’s First Year Girls National Cup champions following a win on Wednesday afternoon over Scoil Mhuire Buncrana.

Another All-Ireland title for Pres Kilkenny! National 1st Year soccer champions. Well done girls, Ms. Kearns and Ms. Roche! 👏👏👏 @faischools

Emma Doherty set up the Donegal students late in the first half for Aoife Gallanagh to give Scoil Mhuire the 1-0 lead but Presentation’s Ellen Molloy levelled matters straight from the restart to make it 1-1.

Doherty went closed herself approaching half time, rattling the crossbar from the edge of the box with the Ulster girls pressing hard but at the break the scores remained level.

Into the second half and Kilkenny stole the advantage, an Ellen Molloy set-piece palmed away to Kate Furlong for the finish. Tension was high in the closing stages, a few close calls in front of goals as Scoil Mhuire went in search of an equaliser but it was all Kilkenny and another big sporting win for Presentation Secondary School Kilkenny.
