Carlow Regatta Club Secretary Michael Curran says that having good safety features attracts a huge entry list for the Juniors.
Speaking to KCLR, Michael says that having Cycling lanes along the River Barrow makes the Regatta unique.
“We are unique in a one way. A lot of the bigger Regattas are held on lakes where there are multi-lane with maybe 6 or 8 lanes. With ourselves, and particularly with the younger Juniors, the coaches or even family members can cycle along the track line which makes it very safe.
“We have a good safety features there with the local civil defence as well so it makes the Regatta very safe. The weekend weather is looking good, conditions should be good so it’s very unique in that way and we do tend to attract the large Junior entry for those reasons,”
