Carlow centre-back David English said that James Doyle’s four goal tally was the break that he deserved.
Speaking to KCLR after Saturday’s Christy Ring Cup Final victory, David said that James is a top class talent, and that they have nothing to lose in their next game against Laois.
“4-1 wasn’t bad and actually myself and Richard Kelly were roaring in at him saying, what about putting the ball in” he joked.
“But in fairness to him he was absolutely lightning today and like they are the sorts of ball that he has been getting on all year but for one thing and another, the ball would break the wrong way for him or something but he is a serious talent. He showed it with IT Carlow, he is doing it on the biggest level and I am absolutely delighted for him getting 4 goals.
English went on to weigh up their chances against Laois in the All Ireland Qualifiers.
“We have absolutely nothing to lose going into this, we are after accomplishing the Christy Ring, that’s exactly what we set out our stall to do at the start of the year.
“We will have a crack off them (Laois), we will try and hurl the same way as we hurled here today and there won’t be a puck of the ball between us, I can guarantee you that,” he concluded.
