Danesfort Senior Hurling Manager Anthony McCormack says the change of style to their play has paid dividends.

Speaking to KCLR after last nights victory over James Stephens, Anthony says they have placed a strong emphasis on work ethic.

“Yeah we have worked very hard on the pitch over the last few weeks. I mean, it’s taken a while I suppose for the lads to get used to the way I want them to play.

“It mightn’t be necessarily what they have been used to over the years, but I suppose we sat down and we felt that maybe if we break a few tackles and draw an overlap we might get some chances.

“We did that tonight and I suppose over the last couple of weeks we have seen the lads kind of set into that game plan, and I am not saying it’s the right way to go but it has worked for us so far, so hopefully we will keep going,” he said.

McCormack also says they have the potential to progress even further in the Championship.

“I suppose when we sat down at the start, we felt their was definitely quarter-final and semi-finals in this team if they want it badly enough. I suppose yeah, look it takes the pressure of definitely not looking over your shoulder but at the same time, we are no further on in the Championship than any of the rest of the teams.

“It’s only the two teams in the quarter-final to look forward to so look it’s open draw and anything can happen from here,” he said.
