Serving as the curtain-raiser to the Leinster League for junior rugby, the South East League gets underway this Sunday with Kilkenny, Carlow and Tullow all finding themselves in Group 2.
While Tullow’s game at Ashton Lane against Wicklow is off, Kilkenny and Carlow will go head to head at 3pm this Sunday afternoon to put their pre-season preparations to the test.
Then, on Sunday 10 September, Kilkenny will line out at home again to face Wicklow in a fixture that’s doubling up as last season’s South East League J1 final (the game never happened last season), while Carlow will play Arklow at the same time.
On Sunday 17 September, Kilkenny will make the trip to Arklow while Carlow, with Steve Ashmore at the coaching helm this season, welcome Tullow to Oak Park.
With the Leinster League returning to action then in September, we’ve still got some fixtures to play out so 8 October sees Tullow bring Arklow to Black Gates while Carlow head to Ashtown Lane to face Wicklow.
The final fixture of this year’s South East League (J1 Group 2) then will take place in the new year when Tullow and Kilkenny, also renewing rivalries in Division 1 A of the Leinster League this season, will meet at Black Gates.
