Kilkenny Senior Goalkeeper Eoin Murphy says Waterford’s growing momentum with each game can see a first All-Ireland for the County since 1959.
Speaking exclusively to KCLR ahead of next Sunday’s All-Ireland Senior Final against Galway, Eoin says that the Deise have been somewhat unfairly written off.
“Waterford just have something building behind them. They seem to have been gaining confidence from every game and been written off, which I think unfairly too. I know a lot of the Waterford guys and I will probably just tip them on that case because they just seem to be building. Since Cork beat them, they have been building something in every single game and they have been proven so I will go with Waterford by at least a score, one two or three points, they won’t be anymore than a goal in it I’d say,” he said.
Eoin also says it will be a greater occasion on Sunday now that Austin Gleeson has been given the all-clear to play.
“Look he’s fortunate, but at the same time you want the best players in the Country playing in the biggest games and there was a big hullabaloo from the Media on it and it was a little bit unfair, probably what you are seeing with Diarmuid Connolly as well.
“I think obviously people don’t go out to do those sort of things and it just happens in the heat of the moment. It would have been a shame to see him miss out.
“You want to see the best players playing and from a neutral point of view, the things he does on a field, you just have to admire it so I am delighted he is hurling and it will make it a better occasion with him starting,” he added.
