Dicksboro Senior Hurling manager Mark Dowling says their was no complacency from the management and players in the wake of their draw against Mullinavat in yesterday’s Senior Quarter-Final clash in Callan.
Speaking to KCLR, Mark says that having not had a Championship clash before yesterday made them somewhat ring rusty.
“I definitely don’t think there was any complacency. If there was, I didn’t sense it, there definitely wasn’t any complacency from within the management team and I don’t think there was within the players but I suppose look, you are always a bit fragile when you come out of the League and straight into quarter-final to meet a team who have already played a Championship match and maybe are a little bit more up to Championship pace.
“Instead of complacency I would probably substitute it with that kind of theory that maybe just that we were a little bit Championship rusty maybe possibly,” he said.
Mark also reckons Mullinavat were unfairly estimated before the game.
“To be fair to Mullinavat, they are a strong physical team, but they have hurlers everywhere and it’s a great mix and they are a fierce competitive opponent.
“There was no way we were going to take them lightly and certainly there will be no way we will be taking them lightly the next day again, it will be every bit as tough for but that’s what we expect and that’s we want,” he concluded.
