Monday night’s Kilkenny County Committee meeting in Nowlan Park saw DJ Carey ratified as Under 21 manager for 2018.
The Cats legend takes over from Eddie Brennan whose charges claimed the Leinster champoinship this year following wins over Dublin, Westmeath and Wexford in the final but were beaten 0-17 to 0-11 by Limerick in this year’s Under 21 All-Ireland Final.
Brennan had stepped down from the role last month.
Carey has enjoyed some success recently as manager of the IT Carlow colleges hurling setup. His management team will be unveiled at a later date.
