Mick Byrne has been coaching teams in and around the Carlow area for quite some time now and despite leading teams to five county finals across Carlow, Laois and Wicklow he had yet to taste success until last week.
Mick Managed Kilbride to the Carlow Intermediate title last weekend and yesterday he led Asca to the Carlow Junior B Football Championship Final.
Speaking to KCLR after they defeated Eire Og in yesterday’s County Junior B Final, Mick says the squad got their just rewards for the efforts they have put in.
“The boys put in a hard shift this year. Hail, Rain or Snow there was a great effort put in. What can I say. We made it very hard for ourselves as we have been doing in the last couple of Championship games or in the last couple of finals.
“We are after blowing up and we just barely got over the line and fair play to Eire Og, they kept coming and coming and coming and we knew that was going to happen,” he said.
